Who We Are

Brief Overview

ETU works to deepen democracy and to achieve the UN Sustainable Development
Goals in Southern Africa. We specialise in training government officials, civil society activists, and political parties. We offer training on government policy, economic and social development, local government, elections, public participation, and more.

We provide training, facilitation, materials development, and strategic planning. Our approach is hands-on, working closely with our client organisations to craft strategies and programs that ensure their success. Our online courses are free and we raise funds for many of our training programme targeting youth, democracy and development.

Specialised training can be developed for client organisations.

Our Structure

ETU is non-profit company, and has worked since 1992 on democracy and
development in South Africa, and since 2010 in Southern Africa. ETU operates
under the governance of a dedicated volunteer board, with skilled trainers and staff based in Johannesburg.

Our Equity Profile

ETU staff are 45% female and 90% black.

Our Pool of Trainers

ETU's strength lies in our extensive network specialist trainers, ensuring nationwide
reach and impact in all languages. We also work with, and build a pool of trainers for
client organisations, for each mass training project
